strange goings-on

this is a copy of an old post from my old blog (efx2 which then became efx2blogs). in the end, the final incarnation (efx2blogs) went down one too many times for me, so i switched to blogger. i was able to recover most of my older stuff (efx2) from archive.org. some smilies, graphics, and/or links may be missing, but you get the idea.

what a strange mood i'm in

why, you ask? well, don't despair, dear reader, i am about to tell you. its been an interesting two days. here's why:

i just got a "that's why i LOVE you!" from wifey. even though it was over something simple, i love it when says that. always makes me giggle.

my step-daughter is in the hospital. now, that in itself is not a good thing, but the preliminary tests results are looking better than what we originally thought and she should be ok very quickly. so, not fun stuff, but a lot less to worry about than we thought.

this next item requires a bit of background. those of you who remember back when i used to post on modblog may remember this stuff. wifey's ex and i do NOT get along. not by any stretch of the imagination. we have made an art form of avoiding each other for 7 plus years. so much so that i didn't go to my step-daughter's quince so that he wouldn't cause a scene and ruin it for her. i'm a big enough person, but he wasn't. at least back then. when i went to the hospital to see my step-daughter last night, guess who was there? mr. angry pants himself. and guess what? we were in the same room for quite awhile and we didn't fight! he even directed a few words my way. VERY trippy.

another bit of background on this one: wifey didn't want to leave her baby girl alone in the hospital, so there was this master plan of who was going to stay with her. her grandma (her dad's mom) was just leaving when i got there and her dad was staying until her mom (wifey) got back from an errand to our house. mind you, he has a horrible cold. so i stayed for a bit, then left to drop all of her visitors (boyfriend, little bro, other grandma) back off at home. i was going to go home, but went back to the hospital so her dad could go home since he was, after all, sick as a dog. when i walked back in and it was just him and me and a sleeping sick little girl in the bed, he actually said THANK YOU. i was shocked!

so, all in all, its been positive. if my step-daughter weren't sick, it would have been an awesome two days. then again, if she weren't sick, he and i wouldn't have had a reason to put it behind us.
